This isn't the first time that I've seen an article about somebody dropping dead after a long period of marathon gaming.
Sep 17 2007 - Chinese man drops dead in internet cafe after 3-day gaming binge.
Fed 3 2012 - Gamer dies in Taiwan internet cafe after 23 hour league of legends session. Body goes unnoticed for 9 hours.
Aug 5 2005 - Man loses job, dies after playing starcraft for 50 hours straight.
March 15 2009 - WoW gamer kicked from guild - Too dead to login.
Nov 3 2005 - Young girl dies during WoW marathon, gets online funeral.
This is actually only a few of them.... IE: There isn't going to be a sudden uproar after the most recent. This has been happening for years now.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to play it down and I agree it is sad. This is just to address any concerns that this one incident could lead to an uproar and cause any problems for gaming in general. |

Idiot...
Can I have his stuff??? What an idiot, that is such a ****** game too.
I think much of the appeal of diablo 3, at least for some of these people, is that they added in a blizzard sanctioned real money cash auction house to sell items that you farmed in-game. |

Well obviously there were other factors... With some of the other people who have passed away under the same circumstances, it was various things such as stress, aneurysm/clots, etc.
I'm pretty sure that the individual likely wasn't in perfect health.
MSNBC is reporting that it was a clot, but who knows.
Also, he wasn't using an open terminal at the internet cafe. He had rented a private room there, so it's not like there was anybody else around to watch him or see what might have happened. |

Ugh don't mention that level... It gave me nightmares. |

You know, I just realized that there seems to be one thing in common with the majority of cases such as this.
While looking over the large number of news articles about people dying in net cafes while gaming, it reveals that the vast majority of them are Asians. |
